a few months ago my friend took this pledge to only remake clothing needed from items they already own.
i already make most of the clothing i sell from recycled items, most from my own closet … but low and behold, and of course its kinda silly… i rarely wear any of the recycled items myself. not because i dont like them. im shy. i didnt want to be the one to tell anyone “i made this”… actually, when i did wear anything of my own, i left it to my friends if someone did ask about it –you know who you are!! my husband used to wear what i made. my daughter too. they own many, many homemade pieces… but recently i noticed they have been collecting dust. i hope that if i start wearing my pieces again, my family will too.
PLUS i have a large pile in my craft room of things i planned on making for myself. with my business becoming more popular, i pushed my items aside. with my new found freedom and this new found goal … i have time to tackle that pile, and test my confidence with funky new clothes.
i also vow to wear one thing i have made once a week. be annoying. ask me if i made something i have on the next time you see me.
so as not to overwhelm myself, and get kicked out of the pledge, i chose the 2 month pledge. (thankfully i can still shop at thrift stores.)

The Pledge
I, Megan, pledge that I shall abstain from the purchase of “new” manufactured items of clothing, for the period of 2 months. I pledge that i shall refashion, renovate, recycle preloved items for myself with my own hands in fabric, yarn or other medium for the term of my contract. I pledge that I will share the love and post a photo of my refashioned, renovated, recycled, crafted or created item of clothing on the Wardrobe Refashion blog, so that others may share the joy that thy thriftiness brings!
Signed Megan
